Teaching
Join me for a morning and unwind!
The classes I run are made up of small groups of 5 taking place at various times at the Eli-B Studio in Byfleet or at Craft My Day. Class duration is three (3) hours and specifically aimed at beginners / intermediate. Private tuition and open forum lessons are available, please contact me directly.

There are a variety of courses on offer from making a large quilt to just learning a specific technique without committing to a whole quilt. No matter which course you select you will be learning in a relaxed, friendly environment and you may find that sooner than later patchwork & quilting becomes a PASSION.

Written instructions, requirements and measurements are provided for each course undertaken.
Learning on your own sewing machine builds confidence and allows you to master your machine. Should you not have a sewing machine, then there are machines available for your use. Please do bring your own sewing / quilting kit.
Quilting Technique Workshops

The Quilting Technique Workshops are great way to be introduced to the world of Patchwork & Quilting. These techniques allow you to try out the technique without committing to a whole quilt.

Incorporate these skills into your patchwork and quilting repertoire: Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP), Confetti Quilting, Quilt As You Go (QAYG), Log Cabin, and Applique Design.

Each technique is quick, easy and great for using up your stash or scrap fabric. You may decide to use the design as an individual pieces for a scattered cushion or tote bag. Alternatively, you may decide to follow a colour scheme and use these pieces to create a large quilt repeating all or some of the designs. Whatever you decide, you are welcome to attend all four sessions or just the session you wish to learn.

Lets have fun with fabric!

Upcycling

Their are endless possibilities allowing you to Recycle, Reuse & Reduce all the bits and pieces lying around the house.

A special memory quilt or keepsake made from your loved one's clothing is a wonderful way to share memories and store fabric that you just cannot bear to give away. Think of all those gorgeous baby clothes you have stored in the loft or all those neckties or work shirts that are no longer been worn to school or work. The idea of Free Design Quilting or Upcycling lends itself to maximising efficient use of material.

Your quilting blocks can be comprised of various shapes, squares, triangles, rectangles and strips. Alternatively, the blocks can be all the same, creating a repeating pattern of all the same blocks, often separated by "sashing strips". There is a range of styles, sizes and options.

I have specifically created a Memorable Woven Waistcoat as a three week course. While tutorials (three hour workshop) are available for the following individual projects:
-
Fan-Tie-stic! a Dresden Block that lends itself to endless possibilities
-
Tie Inspired Cushion (TIC)
-
Memory Quilt comprising of pre-loved clothing
Sew let's get creative with your wardrobe!
Quilt-As-You-Go (QAYG)

Quilt-As-You-Go is similar to regular quilting except that you are quilting the entire quilt sandwich as an individual block pieces all at the same time. There is no precise pattern as long as all you quilt blocks are the same size. To assemble all the quilt blocks into one quilt we make use of the "sash binding" method.
The benefit of QAYG is that quilting individual blocks makes it easier to rotate the quilt block on your domestic sewing machine especially if you wish to have a different quilting design on each block. For example, chevron, block, wavy lines, etc.

Your creative possibilities using this method are endless, it may even be used as a project with the addition of applique.
